Ignition timing
« on: May 12, 2009, 21:15:34 »
Can any one help me , i have a early 90 with a 2.25 petrol engine.(called a 2.3 for the launch of the 90)
i would like to know which timing marks to use, because in the manuel its says....

leaded fuel 90 octane set to T.D.C
leaded fuel 85 octane set to 3 degrees A.T.D.C

unlead petrol is 95 octane so do i retard the timing ? would this be ok?
I know how to set the timing but just dont know where to set it, and dont want to damage the engine.

I have asked this question in the defender forum but thought i would post it hear as well as there are more series landys with the 2.25 petrol about than the 90's.
many thanks in advance

About 6 degrees BTDC seems to suit most 2.25 engines
