Paint mark on axle

While changing the steering damper I noted a green paint mark on the front axle. Does this mean any thing? It is quite a large one about 1.5” wide. To the right of the diff.

I'm sure I read it some where that the green mark is an indication of a front axle for the 200 Tdi

I have a friend who worked at Landy on the design team for the Discovery
I'm positive he mentioned about this green mark,

IIRC it was to show which axles went to the rangy line and which went to the Disco line.........

But I stand to be corrected

Think ours had a white splodge but I don't know where the axle is from.

Could this be the way that they are labeled on the production line
to indicate the axle oil has been added or something along those
lines.?
