gears jamming????
snorkley:
posted on here a while ago about this, heres an update, well its a series three diesel,it seems to drive ok in 2 wheel drive but when you put it in four it jams in gear, and also the high low lever wont move, you have to lift back wheels of ground to release it,i have had top off gearbox and all the selectors are fine, all springs and indent balls in place etc,is there anything in the transferbox that could cause this,as i have checked rear diff as well and it sound, the owner tells me he had it at garage prior to this to have some work on transferbox, but not sure what was done as it was a while ago,so any ideas much appreciated, cheers gus

Does it do it straight away or after you've been driving for a while?
Do you use it in 4wd on tarmac/hard surfaces?
have you had the top cover off the transfer box and looked in there at all? If so was there a tab washer ont eh special nut on the rear end of the gearbox mainshaft, and was it engaged in the nut?
snorkley:
it does it almost right away, and yes it is used in 4wd almost all the time, but i dont think its axle wind up,i have had the back axle lifted of the ground and the prop shaft is solid when this happens it wont budge at all,in two wheel drive it fine,im gooing to look at transfer box today, cheers gus
Lucy1978:
it won't be axle wind up, it'll be transmission wind up. The series transfer box has no centre differential (sot he front and rear props HAVE to turn at the same speed as they're locked together, so using it in 4wd all the time won't do it any good.

transmission wind up,axle wind up,i new what i meant lol,any way problem solved it was nut on end of gearbox shaft that holds the cog on it was well loose so cog was moving and not engageing properly with the other gear so was jamming, how tight should this nut be? thanks for the help so far, cheers gus
