Axle swap

Hi All

Got a query,  just dropped the 300 tdi and manuabox from a Disco into a E reg defender.  Now I want to put the Discoalloy weels on but they are catching on something, think it;s the drive plates or their bolts.  So is it possible tojust swap the drive plates or thehubs and drive plates.  Or is it a mamoth task where we have to swap swivels, balls (Defender and Disco both have 7 bolt fixings) CV's, shafts and diffs.  The axle tubes are fairly rotten so don't want to use them.

Any help or advise very much appreiated

just swap the full axle over I have disco axles on my defender they just bolt straight in :D

Hi fatbaz,
I am just looking at doing this to my defender. It looks like a complete swop over is the only answer. I was advised elsewhere that you just swop the half shafts but they don't appear to be interchangeable.
How easy was your 300 conversion. I have a disco 300 which had been in a V8 range rover mounted to the LT77. I am planning on using the engine mounted to the shorter bell housing of the defender lt77. Did you have to do much fabrication with engine mounts or exhausts?

I think you can get away with just fitting wheel spacers to allow the fitment of alloy wheels. Not 100% sure so just check before you buy some as they may not help.
