Crank damper bolt
Geoff30:
My timing belt has gone bang, which is not a huge worry but I cannot get the large bolt undone on the crank damper. Have had a locking tool on it with a 4 foot scaff bar on my long breaker bar and all I managed to do was bend my locking tool and shear a bolt that held it on.
Anyone got any ideas of something else I can try???
ben-dent:
put a braker bar on the bolt, and wedge it on the chassis (drivers side), disconnect the stop solenoid wire and flick the engine over on the key, that will undo the bolt
lee celtic:
I used a 3/4 drive socket and a long tube .........
To put it back on ...... the bolt itself ........well .......just ......fell off

do what Ben said or use a bigger pipe for leverage
peasey:
can he still do that if his cam belt has gone?Mine is an auto but couldnt you put it in gear say 5th and warm it up with one of those gas torch thingys and try the long bar on it again.I used bens method to undo mine but my belt was intact.
lee celtic:
I've seen them lock the pulley wheel by winding a rope around it and tieing it to the chassy (in the right direction so it tightens as you undo the bolt)
