2 or 3 that is the question
« on: March 15, 2009, 15:19:06 »
now that my 300tdi has passed its mot my thoughts have turned to a likely replacement, talking to a couple of friends who have disco 3,s they have all raved about the disco 3 and said they wouldnt bother looking at a td5 now they have driven the the newer ones.
looking at disco 3 prices  are they really this cheap now? its a lot of car for the money they are up for now, i found one advertised for 13k on an 07 plate with 38,000 miles on which seems like good money to me so am seriously tempted

any thoughts?

D3's are great vehicles, much better "in my opinion" (before anyone starts) than the D2 and drive much nicer and are alot quieter and refined, they feel bigger inside (like rangies do compared to disco's)

the only problem you are going to have is if this Tax inforcement comes in to play then it is going to be Really Expensive for the D3's

D3? Fantastic piece of kit, awsome in the mucky stuff and lovely on the tarmac.

One thing to be aware of, is "some" maintenance work requires the whole body to come off!!!

There is a club specifically for the D3 but for some reason I can't find it??

I'd say go for it, You get a lot of motor for your money...

If you are thinking of a D3 then www.disco3.co.uk is packed full of information

I have a Disco 2, but I'd recommend you get a Disco 3 if you have the option!  There's a world of difference.

Have had our D3 for nearly a year now, a 56 plate HSE with all the toys.  Difference between it and our previous D1's (missed, but not forgotten) is like night and day.

We admit, it is a tarmac cruiser, no off-roading for her.  If you are looking at getting one, then make sure full LRSH, and if going for 57 plate or younger, then it will have remainder of LR warranty left, very important :)

Although, Tesco are apparently doing a warranty that a few people on the Disco3.co.uk forums have gone for - £400 or so for 1yr includes wear and tear that LR own extended one doesn't apparently.

Road tax will be I believe £440 this year, currently £400, a rip off - yep, but you only live once.
