frontera engine bay
« on: February 25, 2009, 23:10:14 »
Hi. My mates petrol frontera came back from the garage today with a tube hanging off an airbox. The tube comes from the passenger side wing into the airbox and out towards the back of the engine (I dont know where abouts cos it was dark)

Any idea what this box is for?

Regards

Mike

What size engine is it?

Though it does sound like the breather to the carbon canister.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not sure on the engine size as I didnt see him today. The tubes in question are about the same size as a hose pipe and the box is 10-15cm round and 20cm tall.

So what does the carbon canister do?

When the engine isnt running the charcoal canister collects the petrol fumes from the tank and stores them to be burned at start up , its and environmental thing, but if the hose is loose this means there could be petrol fumes in the engine bay after it has sat a while, so has the potential to go bang I would assume
