alternator not working

Many thanks for the replies, have done some tests and seems it is the alternator at fault, ordered one off flea bay, think might try getting new module as well and see if I can repair mine so I always got a spare.

I would be seriously worried if an RAC man says that fixing a battey indicator light would get an alternator working  :shock: The light is an indication of whether the alternator is working - not t'other way round...


Just had to replace my alternator - funny clunking sound in the engine bay and a loss of power - turned out the front bearing on the alt had failed and siezed up and jammed the drive belt... 8-[


Still, all working now...

That was my main worry, never trusted any recovery people really. Since one messed up all my fueling on an XR4i.
