Whats on the other end of the pipe and would slakening it help get the oil cooler end started?

yes ! i have done it ,the o ring that sits in the filter housing has to go on the pipe then the whole thing will go in and the thread will do up .
Thanks for all the replies ,have a new problem now ,the ignition is totally dead ,no lights on the dash nothing  battery fully charged .
The only doubt is the wires to the starter ,i have the live to the solenoid and the earth to the back of the starter .
