Gordo:
Well I've gone the George route and bought a Midland Alan 42 and Brodit mount.

The antennae is going on a bracket on the spare wheel, and I'm hoping to able to route the cable nice and tidily inside.

Photos to follow once I've done it!

(Any suggestions for a decent, not too long antennae?)

I've used a 'Trucker 80' in the past from Thunderpole.....about 89cm in length and coil based so ideal for off roading. with a SWR of 1.5 I could get around a 7 mile radius...!!!

Mark.

Lamby:
In my old Freelander (2002 td4 3-door commercial) i mounted a midland 98 in the roof lining.Mounted it to the "Sunglasses holder" thing inbettween the sunroofs and windscreen. I drilled 2 holes and bolted it through the solid platic. The power came direct from the battery, round the engine bay and through a grommet near the bonnet cable,up the drivers side door pillar, along the inside of the headlining to the cb.
The Anntene cable went from the CB into the headlining (Just the plug showing) round the sunroofs inside the headlining to behind the radio ariel where i drilled and mounted a D.V mount!I ran a large springer most of the time a sometimes a sirio t327. The whole setup was solid as a rock, looked very neat and was so east to control.Oh and the mic was hung from a mic clip screwed onto the side of the rig usuiong the holes that are there. Hope this helps.Do have some pics somewhere.
