Loud rubbing noise coming from my 90... Sometimes
Mark_Solesbury:
Disk Brakes all round, no mud flaps.
I did wonder about the handbrake drum... but cant see how it would make that much of a noise!
I went for another drive last night, and it didnt happen.. So i can only assume that it was slush turning to ice somewhere underneath, and catching on something, but im bugggggered if i can see whats making it!
Mark_Solesbury:
Right... Update.
Did it twice this morning on the way to tesco...
Ive found that if you slip the transfer box into neutral when it happens, the noise goes straight away.
Im going outside to remove the prop and handbrake...
Saffy:
I had an intermittent noise on my truck awhile ago in that area which was a rattle, rubbing and whining. Turned out to be the dust plate that's located behind the transfer box output flange to the front prop (front) . It would come loose, spin around and make an awful racket then suddenly stick in place and be quite till next time. Easy fix though.
96Disco:
This sounds very like a problem I have with my 110. I've investgated all the 'obvious' areas but found nothing wrong.
I look forward to news if you find the cause!
Cheers,
Phil.

How often does he have to do that
Possibly gearbox bearing - where the prop enters the casing, Mine did it worse on "off throttle" :-k
