I'm in the middle of doing it to a Swb S3. You'll need to fabricate engine mounts on the chassis. Series engine mounts are weedy little things in comparison to the 4-inch square TDi ones, which I'm going to use. As you have a complete donor vehicle - you may be able to cut the mounts off the chassis and then weld them to the series, which will save some time.
What gearbox are you going to use and are you going to fit the intercooler/radiator?

hi les
thanks for the reply, gearbox wise going to use s11a for now but might look for a lt 77 i think thats the one and i am hope fully going to keep intercooler  rad have seen a picture of it fitted but i have the lights in the grill which will make it a bit tight. as for engine mounts thats a good idea to cut off the disco ones , have you started your project yet mine will be in the summer as have a 2 door rangie to finish welding lol

I've been 'starting' it for 2-years :)
I altered a 200TDi intercooler and fitted it in front of the series rad with a push fan at the side of it.
I also bought a new chassis, cut the front crossmember off and put a new one on further forwards to allow power steering fitment.  I'm using a defender LT77 gear/transfer box and disc braked axles with leaf suspension.

You will need flares for the truck if you use the modern axles, you may get away with it if you dont use modulars.

You'll need arch eyebrows unless you fit really skinny tyres :)
I tried to upload pictures with my original post, but I can't do it. They are either on my pc or in the gallery on LR4x4.
I moved the outlets on the intercooler to one side - top and bottom, then used defender mounts to hold it in place. I then used 300TDi 90-deg bends to point the pipes towards the engine. With the oulets on the intercooler moved - it's only 95mm wide, so fits between the rad and front panel quite nicely.

Thread on the intercooler modification is here -

I have pictures of the completed front panel, but you can't see them :(
