discorich:
Cool, cheers guys that it very helpfull i will pass on the information.

300TDi Disco:
I am trying to waterproof my V8. Its a range engine which was converted into a 90. I been have problems with injector resistor pack filling up with water. Many friends of mine tell me to get rid of the v8 and go diesel but personally i like the V8. I was thinking of moving the coil into the cab and just extending the cables & then do the bottle trick on the dissy.

Budgie:
I used to put silicone grease (the type you get in a tube for lubricating the zips on drysuits) around the base of the dizzy cap and then use Holts Damp Start on the leads.
You lift the rubber boots off the dizzy cap but leave the leads connected, a good spray of Damp Start and then, while it's still wet, slide the boots back in place. This seals the boots to the leads & dizzy cap.
On my V6 90 I also made a guard that stopped the water from the fan hitting the dizzy and I had that up to the door cappings with no problems.  ;)

Saffy:
On the V8 waterproofed dizzy upgrades the most important mod is the drain holes at the bottom of the dizzy are ported with breather pipes into the raised breather(s) manifold or into standard aircleaner casing (to allow the unit to breath). The vacuum advance hose is T'd into the servo line. The cap is sealed with silicon. The points are often replaced with an electronic replacement. Well fitting quality HT leads are used.
The silly rubber glove caps and water bottle mods usually pay no heed to the two holes at the bottom of the dizzy and it those which let the water in the first place!
