Waterproofing a 3.5 V8??? any clues
discorich:
One of my mates has just got a 3.5 V8 carbs and was wondering what is the best way to waterproof the electrics so that he can go play. The disco has been off roaded in the past but it tended to avoid water, but he is wanting to follow me in my 200tdi what loves to go into deep ponds and the such.
Any help would be appriciated.

allegedly if you make a hole in the disy cap and connect an air supply to it then that will provide possitive pressure to displace water. also a smear of grease on the plug/ht lead rubber caps is meant to help too. having said that tho my mav was petrol and i had water upto the wing mirrors with no mods or probs on several occasions, you just needed to keep moving forwards.

vasaline works better and less conductive according to the orical buldog

i used a 500ml pop bottle with the bottom cut off over the coil, then siliconed it on and siliconed the lead through the top, then cut a big flap out the side of a 3litre squash bottle and zip tied ir around the dizzy as a splash guard, sounds abit micky mouse but it works!

i cut up a 5 litre plastic can and put it over the dizzy, this stopped the fan blowing water over the dizzy if water hit it, i later took the fan off and sorted out an electrical one, but fitting the plastic container stopped water splashing over the leads. I also fitted a drinks bottle over the coil which did the same thing, i didnt have any trouble in water after that, sounds daft but it worked
