any ideas
« on: January 26, 2009, 21:42:16 »
hi i have a 200 tdi disco j reg
i was driving down the road as normal and my car cut out.
we got fuel at the lift pump and then out of the filter but not out of the pump
so then got towed home
so then we changed it then got fuel at the injectors but still not running right
so think the cam belt may have moved

i have been trying to fix it all weekend i done the timing and new fuel filter it will now tick over just but wont rev up
some times if you hold it flat out for a long time it will rev up but some times it wont
i thort it might be the lift pump but i had it running then removed the bleed bolt in the filter housing and it p==ed out so its not the lift pump

today i removed one of the injectors and then put the pipe back on and turned the key and it sprayed good then tryed one more that was ok

dont know what to do now
i think i might have to start again with the timing

sounds like the flue cut out soiled on the pump. there should be mall wire with a 12v feed on the side, IIRC near the back.

sorry i didn't read it all properly.

i would agree though it dose sound like a pain in the ass.

all i can think is mine would not rev when i had air hose crushing, it was sucking in and crushing its self?

Good luck

sounds to me like there could be air getting sucked in,

id check the fuel lines that run along the chasis rail under the drivers side, start it up,let it tick over and get under neath, see if you can see, smell or hear something

i got it running ok and now it revs up right but when you drive it it is very slow
it struggles to pull away and only does about 40 mph
i think its the turbo now
it realy pi==ing me off now

o and the fuel pipe makes a tapping noise and shakes when running and if you hold the rubber joins you can fee it pulsing and thers a small amount of air in the pipe is that right because i have got clear pipes and normaly you carnt see

Pull the rear carpet up and remove the round plate in the floor to gain acess to the top of the fuel tank.
Check that the two metal elbows on the fuel lines are not corroded and letting air in.
