Which thermostat ?
« on: January 22, 2009, 07:42:41 »
Mrs wizard has a 1989 3.5 Efi Rangie that has run cold since she bought it a few months ago.
It only gets used once a month or so for a bit of laning etc.
Anyway to make a short story longer what temp thermostat should it have in it, cos there aint on in at the moment.
I had a quick look on e bay but they range from 74 deg to 88 deg.

Agreed 88 degrees. Make sure you get one with a jiggle pin in to help with bleeding the system.  :D

I don't know about the flapper EFi but the hot wire has to run above 88 Deg or it will be over fueling all the time.  The V8 runs thast hot to get the emissions right but the engfine itself runs better at about 65-70 degress so I'm told.  Running hotter also leads to big end cap fretting as the caps are steel and the block Ali, which expands more when hot.
