A few pictures, before and after 2004-2009
« on: January 16, 2009, 22:00:20 »
hi guys ,
been on here for ages, but dont post much.I noticed how out of date my sig picture is, it really was a good one i bought back then which i really shouldn't have used for off roading.
Just thought i'd stick a few pictures up to show its dramatic change from the mint looking classic, to bashed and scratched off roader it is now.

I bought it back in december 2004, heres a couple from jan2005 when i started off roading it  :

i had just converted from air suspension to 2" springs and dampers.

A while after and a few dents and mods , and started to realise replacing the bumper end caps was a futile act so started not bothering !
also got rid of the back box.

bull bar gone ,the fog lights didn't last much longer !

I also had a few problems with water !!

Slowly changing, and still not looking too battered !

Getting the hang of water now  :D

In the meantime a 2" body lift

and a bit more wading

Got myself a winch bumper, but couldn't afford a winch  :(

Then in 2008 i wanted bigger tyres !! And that meant bigger arches.

but this brought big problems :

so far im on my 9th diff

more offroading fun last year :

Down in wales for a week, also got myself a winch at last  :

Beutiful in wales, going back again this year :

Back home and decided to fit a 3" lift :

Finally offroading a couple of weeks ago :

and last week :

As you can see over the 4 years she's changed a lot.
Best car i have ever bought !  :D

cheers

Great looking motor just what im trying to do to mine! What size wheels and tyres are you using! I've done the +2"spring lift, flexi arches and winch bumpers ect but undecided on the  wheels/tyres want big and chunky probably cooper stt's but worried about difs and drivetrain if going too big. Rangey does'nt get abused off road mainly greenlaning and the odd pay and play. Any thoughts would be appreciated cheers!

like that post mate, highlights the progression from road vehicle to what it is now. Think i'd miss mine but have to admit im considering selling, getting tired of 12mpg. It only does offroad events but it limits which ones i can take it too.

How have you gone through 9 diffs? thats some serious bad luck!

Propes I have 235/85 r16 maxi 3Ds (which are really aggressive) and haven't broke anything.... yet! Have police spec springs, 1" body lift and seriously trimmmed arches!

Whats next then?

Nick

ps anybody want to buy a bobtailed rrc! 3.5 su carbs, gnarly 32" tyres, 11" shocks, X9 winch?

Truck looks good.

235/85's, 2" suspension lift and 40mm body lift is enough to make the other half struggle to get in
Although I had to give in and put the sissy side steps back on
Still, a few more lanes and they may just have to be replaced with theheavy duty ones (to her but known as roack and tree slides to you and me :-#)

The current tyres actually measure closer to 33" but im already rubbing on the wheel boxes. Also bear in mind that more flexible suspension travel (not to be confused with lift) will need more wheel arch space. Which flexi arch kit did you get, quite fancy some 34" jungle trekkers but need a bit more space. Reckon i could gain another inch from body lift without compromising too much but don't want to fit stiffer springs.

This is on a truck im thinking about selling!

Nick

ps my side step are definately heavy duty... 2x 50x50 mm box section!

Hi guys,
thanks for the great comments  :D
The first set of tyres i fitted were 235 85 16's  which gave a nice lift. The big ones that are on it now are 35" 12.5 15" s and its since i've been using them i've bust 2 c'v joints one front shaft and im onto my 9th diff so ive broken 7  ( 8 and nine on the car now) .
Next mods are to fit salisbury axles front and back ,and hopefully retain the abs and traction control. I was also thinking of maybe fitting disco 2 front radius arms to gave more travel up front, its got cranked arms on the back.
And thats about as modded as i need it.

cheers

I was toying with the idea of disco 2 arms. How much better do you think they are? Is there much work involved?

Nick

well fitting , not sure TBH. I think they will give quite a bit more travel though.Haven't really looked into it, its just an idea at the moment.Something similar on the back would be good also.
