Helli Coiling?

Ok, can someone please explain to me how this works, i.e. whats done?

Am getting me head helli coiled where a spark plug has been previously cross threaded, and was quoted 1 hours labour plus the helli???

So am slightly lost now!

if im right m8 its drilled out then a thread like coily pice is put in to make a new thred hope it helps

You only do it because you have to but the nice bonus is that a helicoil in an alley casting is actually significantly stronger than the original thread.

An hour seems excessive though for somebody who knows what they are doing; half should be more than enough
