Sierra cosworth RS500
aaron:
Any one know much about the cosworth RS500??? A mate of mine has one which came to his dads garage for a full respray 12 years ago. The owner couldnt pay up so left the car as payment. It has no engine and although from the outside it looks the part it will need a new lump and a re-commission. Are they the same engine as the sapphire cosworth? Any ideas of value anybody, as he is looking to sell?????????
Disco-Ron:
Do some proper research before he sells it, could be worth a bob or two....... does he have any paperwork with it... ie, v5. etc....

If its a proper rs500 it should still the plate with the build number on it. If it is a proper 500 then the shell is worth a bit.

Ooh RS500!
2 dr with the T-tail. luverly jubberly.
Despite the looks I am still a bit of a fan of the old jellymould although I prefer the Sapphire shape if I'm honest..
Until recently there was a doctors car around here that was an XR8.
God that sounded good when it blasted past.

The RS500 YBD engine used a modified 205 block with thicker walls, they also had a larger turbo and intercooler and an extra set of injectors.
That's just the start of it most things are different, including the ECU and exhaust manifold. There is no reason why you can't put a Sapphire engine in it might be worth selling as it is. If it's one of the original five hundred he will sell it no problem.
