Oil Capacity for a 97 Rover 200 1.4i 8v
« on: January 05, 2009, 15:04:02 »
I have just serviced the Mrs motor, when I purchased the oil I asked the guy at the shop how much oil should be added, he said 4.5L so thats what went in, but the dipstick is reading over the High mark, does anyone know if 4.5l is correct?

4.5l for engine oil refill or 4.8l with a dry filter according to my handbook

Pushed in, make sure you wipe it first (pull out, wipe, push in, pull out, read)

Obviously make sure the car is on the flat (both ways) as even a small slope makes a surprising difference.

and turn the engine over a couple of times after putting the oil in to get the oil around the ngine and into the filter etc. I take the spark plug connectors off but not fully out so the engine doesnt start with little oil around the system.
