Looking at a Discovery 3
Ollie:
I'm in the market for a Discovery 3. Looking to spend about £12-15K for a 3-4 year old model, (SE or HSE).
Does anyone out there own one, perhaps fill me in on the details of being an owner, what the problems are etc......????? (main differences between SE and HSE)
Has anyone off-roaded one ? I'd like to green lane it/occasional off-road play day. Can you get cheap sets of rims/tyres for the Disco, (Don't want to risk the alloys off-road)??
Cheers,
Ollie
scatt:
hi ollie, the smallest rims you can fit are 17"s because of the brakes. i have a D3 hse at the moment with 19's on and it didnt have a problem going down stanage or anywhere else in derbyshire to be fair, it was VERY impressive. the traction control and the terrain response are brill. i dont like the spair wheel hanging under the back but you can buy a kit to put it on the back. the only other thing i had a slight problem with was ground clearence even with the suspension up it bottomed out, but only when i was trying the impossible . oh and make sure you get an auto!

Ollie:
Where did you get your rims/tyres from?
Have you added any off-road protection?
Sounds amazing!!
carracarra13:
I have to admit it one good looking truck
Paul:
I've had one for about 3 weeks, very impressed and happy I made the move from a D2 TD5... The road handling and ride quality is far superior.
I've got General Grabber AT2's fitted on 18" alloys, As for protection there is a fair bit of stuff about for them, Devon 4x4 is a good place to start..
