for consideration and a good idea I think...........

It should be that the santapod raceway site is entered via the A6 end of the forty foot byway - any vehicle in order to enter the racing must get in via that route , maybe unaided.

any views?

this idea would probably be great fun BUT muddy vehicles (and i think its pretty safe to say they gona be muddy if they coming in off 40ft) are not allowed on the track........... small amount of mud you might get away with however the chunks of clay likely to drop off after doing 40ft is a no no....... unless of course you would like to volunteer to wash everyones truck after they come in over 40ft before they go down the track!!!!!

dont wash my own , let alone any one elses!

yep 40ft is a tad dirty, but its supposed to be a proper 4x4 event, so thought it to be a way to ensure that true offroaders qualified.

depends on the time of year too.

What is it true offroaders are gonna qualify to do?????

Does that also mean then that if you dont actually go "off-roading" in your 4x4 at present that you are not allowed to come to the event???? or even if you are just curious about 4x4s and own a standard family car you cant come either?????

No no , course not

I just meant simply to enter (the racing bit) a vehicle must be capable of driving a byway. my wording is wrong

just thinking that you may end up with other 4x4s ie subarus, Evos to the extreme and that wouldnt be in the spirit of the event.

It was just an idea thats all.

sorry didnt look at it like that i think we were talking at cross purposes and what you said just made me realise what it was you were saying originally.   Thank you for making me realise my mistake.
It would be open to all marques of 4x4 except obviously the power cars i.e. like you say suburus, evos etc

Mudpluggers more than welcome.................. :D :D

My other halfs subaru has seen more green lanes than an awful lot of "real" 4x4s - would that be allowed a run? It's guarded with silverstone knobblies on etc. Mind its only a sport not a turbo.

But seriously I quite fancy this - relly must get that front mounted intercooler done first though.

Sounds like fun, I would be interested

One thing to think about though, If Mud club and other sites are trying to permote sensible use of green lanes, will hundreds of 4x4 trying to use the local lanes over the weekend not give the anti 4x4 lot another reason to close the lanes?

I wouldnt think that it would give any more ammo than usual - the lanes around there are very popular and pretty busy anyway when they are open.  The council shut them for 6-7 months of the year so when they do open they get even more traffic than usual.

Enjoy the lanes whilst they can still be driven I say.

I'm not saying don't use the lanes, but this many 4x4's over 1 weekend could get the lanes closed.

bedford council have advised us they will close the lanes if they are in a bad condition anyway. so it will be pot luck if the 40foot is open anyway. however there are loads more local lanes that will be open and that are just as much fun so lets be honest if you just want to rag your motor use our course for that. if you want an enjoyable days laneing be sensible and use your own discretion as to wot is responsible or not!

o.s maps need for the weekend will be. 152,153,165,166. there will more than enough lanes covered by these for everyone to have fun

as soon as we have more details we will post here first.
