Hi Brian,

I'm still waiting to find out about the Manor, that's why no meet message has been posted, we may have to go elsewhere for the next one, I have tried ringing but their phone has been disconnected.

I will post a message as soon as I know anything.

Keep watching  :) ;)

Nope, no good for me - It won't be worth me going, it'll mean I have to leave earlier to get to work on time.

I'll leave it to the rest of you from now on.  ;)

I did have a couple of ideas but they probably wouldn't suit other folk so it might be best to let someone else sort things out from now on.

As one who is relatively new to the club I will say thank you to Frank for all the organisation he has done in the past (the Christmas do was well organised and good fun....many thanks Frank).

May I suggest that all those who regularly attend (or intend to) post their own suggestions for a convenient location and then we can put it to a vote (although I do not know how to post such a poll on here!!).

Inevitably we will not be able to please all the people all of the time, so we will have to accept the majority decision.

I live just up the road from the Greyhound but accept that it is not the cheapest pub in town.  Just down the road from the Manor is the Worlds End.  There are two Toby's, one on the A45 near Wooton and one just off of Round Spinney roundabout on the A43.  The Queen Elanor is just south of the town.  Not sure how well these last four are in terms of 'group seating' for a reasonable size group?  Certainly not as good as the Manor was!

So shall we get some suggestions in and then put it to the vote?

essentially we all want a pub local to us, and unfortunately we all live some distance from each other (thankfully!) ONLY JOKING  ;) i suggest a pub that is centrally located, roomy, good tranport links (roads!!) and reasonable drink, I am easy, any suggestions please as i do not know the areas.

Please can you make it somewhere easy to find and get to  :D :D

I must admit I found the Greyhound easier to get to than the Manor.

I don't get to every meeting so I will be flexible but wherever is chosen could I get a postcode for sat nav. Thanks.

Hope to see you all soon  ;) ;)

For what it's worth, I hope that we can find a venue that will allow Frank to attend - not only for what he has done for us all in the past, but also bearing in mind all the stuff that he does like Birthday Bash which is aimed at the wider audience but still has something of a 'Northampton' feel to it.

I also appreciate the size of the county (anyone for a regular Brackley to Kettering journey?) but think that there must be somewhere fairly central - I kinda like Dave's comment about the Billing Mill as there seemed to be various hidey holes and areas that we could take over.  Food's fairly rubbish, but hey ho...

Frank... could you enlighten us on your thoughts on alternative venues that might suit?

Me... I'll go anywhere, but that could be a whole different forum topic...  :-$

We are going to be having our northants4x4 meeting there in the next 10 days, probably a Tuesday night as we are in the throws of setting up the response group and theres still plenty to be done.

We have members in Daventry, Rushden, Corby, Kettering so due to that we settle for the Billing Mill - most have to travel its just fine for us and fair on everybody. I guess when the weather hots up in the summer it wont be as quiet though.

Keith,

Leave the A45 for Billing Aquadrome.  At the roundabout (turn right & 2nd exit for Aquadrome) go straight over, past the BP filling station and the Chinese and the entrance is on the right hand side before the small bridge.

Ok chaps, firstly thanks for the kind words both here and in the PM's I've received.  :)

As some of you might know I gave up the title of Regional Rep for Northants a few months back when I found that I couldn't be sure of being able to attend all local meets, I think this is essential for a rep to be available to the local members so I stepped down, unfortunately no-one came forward to take on the role so I've been doing it in a caretaker type fashion since.

Sometimes it gets difficult to please everyone when trying to organise a meeting place that's friendly and has all the facilities we need, I thought I'd found that at the Manor but through events beyond our control that venue has closed temporarily, this leaves us in an awkward spot and with me having to get to work at 10:00pm every Monday night made it rather annoying that I had to leave early on meet nights.

It is true that I'm very fond of Mud-Club and have put a great deal of my own time and money into arranging events in the past, however I feel that the time has come for me to take a back seat and let someone else have a go so with that in mind I will make no suggestions as to a location for the next meet, all I will say is that wherever it is decided to hold it I will try to get there if I can.

I wish you all a healthy and prosperous new year.

Tic Tac...

Is that the one at Ecton, virtually opposite the turning that takes you up to Overstone?

If so, it looks like a cracking place and gets my vote...

All the best

Come on SOMEONE make a decision as at this rate we'll not have a meeting. If I'm prepared to travel 65 miles to see my mates surely you lot can travel a little way so Frankie can join us!!!!!

At the risk of being shot by those who don't like the Worlds End and not wishing to be dictatorial I will say yes; we will meet at the Worlds End at the usual time!

If it proves unpopular then e can always put alternatives forward, and vote on them, for next month.

See you all at the Worlds End Ecton.

Cheers

If you are going to meet at the Worlds End, that's fine but someone needs to go and check with the venue if that's ok, you cannot just let 20 folk stroll in unannounced.

That's what I'd do anyway.

Late in response as always, but whilst we are having to change the venue, would it be worth bringing up the change of meet Day again ? as i know that Mondays are an issue for Frank?

Oh, and the worlds end is great for me, even nearer :D
