adafish:
I am with Firebond, who are now FOOTMAN JAMES, but when i gave them the latest spec on Betty....winch, suspension lift, roof-tent, roof-rack and whatever i had done, they should surely know its not going to be used for shopping and thats its a "off-road" vehicle...will check my policy in the morning...just incase..thanks for heads up

crazymac:
Its not so much that they will not cover you off road, very few insurance companies do provide that cover.

The gist of this is a claim that they will not cover you ON the ROAD if you use your vehicle OFF ROAD!!

Range Rover Blues:
Disgusting behaviour once again from insewerance companies, but what do you expect :?

When my sister insured her latest car she changed companies because AF were so lousy at handling the claim, now she pays a £30 extra premium to cover greenlaning, which I think is a cheek as they are public roads.  However if she has paid then there can't be any wriggling out of a claim, can there?

LiftedDisco:
Crazymac... you are completely correct - I wasn't trying to get cover for playdays etc, the fact that this is at own risk is a given, but the statement was that they would not even offer a quote if the car was to be used off-road.

Ada110 - I don't think that there would be any specific exclusions on existing policy wordings... be interested to know, but they might wriggle and say that off road use is a 'material fact' that should have been declared.  Their argument would then be that had they been presented with all facts at inception, they would have re-rated the risk, or declined to quote.  Either way, there is a risk that they might void the policy for non-disclosure.

Waaaaay back, I used to work for a Lloyds broker, trailing risks around the market...

Yeh, i'm aware of thats how it was, thing that cracks me up is they ask you to declare mods (yeh I have a winch, winch bumper, snorkel, 2 inch lift and mud terrain tyres) then they are surprised that you want to take t off road!! I guess there is too many street warriors out there?? (all the toys and spray on mud!!)
