Blower motor replacement

anyone got a step by step guide on how to do this???

needs to be explainable to a 5 year old cos i am about as technical as one! lol

For the past two years, I've run a diesel powered night heater, but this has now given up the ghost, and the older I get the colder the motor is, so looks like I will be going down this route

Another thing to try which I'm going to have a go at is reverse the connections, and send the motor in reverse, pulse it at first though,  to prevent cooked wiring, my friend did it and got it working allbeit a bit noisy forwards, he just turns the radio up a bit louder to compensate, I presume you have tested the wiring through to the motor

Not tested anything, not even looked at fuses lol, i wouldnt even know where to begin (obviously checking the fuse would be a good place!) lol

Yes fuses good start :lol:

As you start taking it apart, check the output feeds to the motor from th eback of the switch, at various settings to make sure power is actually going to the motor, if no power, you may get a reprieve, and just have an electrical feed prob

Just be logical about it, take it in pieces.

Remove centre console
Steering wheel
speedo cowling
Jesus Bar
side panels that hide the various relays etc

That should allow you to see the rest of the fixings if i remember correctly

There are then fixings at the sides (a bit awkwards to get to)

Once its all loose get someone to move it with you, as its a bit floppy on your own

Its been a while since I did mine so not a complete list above, but just take your time and try to remember where things come from, have different tubs to put the various nuts etc in to help you.

 From photos I have seen in the past all I can say is good luck!

Have you looked in the workshop area of this site?

Before you take out the Dash   MEGA job   I took off the passenger side Outlet hose and turned the Fan with a long thin screwdriver and kept flicking the switch  I was lucky because it worked. 
Does my bum look big in this??

I had to replace the motor in mine after the missus managed to fill mine with mud  :?

if it is just the motor, you can get at it from the passenger foot-well, and can get the motor out without taking all the other gubbins out. its about 3 screws from memory and one connector. A bit fiddly but still easier than removing the whole blower housing (i tried  :doh: )

Well I finally got roound to sorting mine out, and had a pleasent surprise, we did a check with direct feeds onto the harness under the back of the dash at the motor, and low and behold the flaming thing worked

after further checking, it turned out to be a damaged EARTH wire, on the loom!

Scotchlocked a new earth wire onto the direct feed earth at the back of the motor to a good earth.

I had previously checked all the wires through and round the switch area, but somehow this got missed, I can only think, I missed it or it was stuck, and we freed it by back running the motor, and the earth was a fault that may have occured later

So again get all the feed wires to the motor checked, it did mean that my mate hand to do a limbo under the dash on the drivers side right up near the front of the heater unit to access

Ahhh no more nagging from the other half and warm fingers and toes to go with it :)
