Lr 101 6 Stud Brake Disc?

Hi,

I am looking at doing a brake disc conversion on a 6 stud 101 axle & was hoping to find a suitable disc to bolt on or machine to fit. (I know it won't be easy)

With the 6 stud 205mm PCD it doesn't leave much room to play with under a 16" rim, I have considered using 20" unimog rims

I have considered Range Rover Discs but feel that it would increase the track width too much.   

Does anyone know of a suitable suplier or another vehicle that uses 6 stud 205mm PCD?

Has anyone done their own conversion, I didn't find anything in a search of the forum.

I don't want to spend a large amount of money on a conversion kit as I'm on a budget , just though it might be worth asking on the forum.

I seem to recall that it has been done on some of the 101's that made their way across 'the Pond'

The ones over here that I've seen (2 of them) have been extensively re-engineered to coil-springs, with Range Rover (or 110/130) axles, & 127/130/Wolf rims

Zeuss do a 101 disk brake conversion but cheep isn't a word that describes it ~£1700 an axle.  There is a guy in the states who's using a 101 axle on a series 2 that is adapting some disks to fit. Personally I'd be very careful if you go this route as recent events have shown what can happen if you have an accident in a vehicle with dodgy brake components.

I fitted the Zeus kit to mine (front axle only, at that price - I left the original drums on the rear two axles).  Much angle grinding of the callipers was involved - Zeus seem to think this is perfectly acceptable.  The brakes themselves, once fitted, were fine - driving 5.5 tonnes up and down the Atlas mountains for days on end never resulted in any fade.  However I was very underwhelmed by Zeus themselves.  They told me the brakes would be fine with Unimog rims but I got some rubbing off the steering ball joint;  Zeus then told me that they'd never said they would be OK with Mog rims and got all arsey about it.  On that basis if there were an alternative to dealing with Zeus, I'd use it.
