Hi i had a new bathroom fitted last year and the paint what the HA used just cracked  so i have been trying to re do it but the paint i am using will not cover it as fast as i put it on it just cracks up anyone had this happen to them

Llanigraham:
You need to know exactly what the Housing Assoc used. If it was "silky" it was possibly Eggshell, which is an oil based paint. Not as shiny as gloss, but smells similar.

If its emulsion paint that you're using, try bunging in about 1/2 a pint of white PVA glue into your paint pot and then give it a good mix, its worked for me in the past where I've had flaking and cracking areas.

I had a similar thing, I PVA'd the wall and then painted, didn't think about mixing it

If you're base coating a wall with PVA its worth mixing in some of your colour, that way you can see which bits you've done, mixing paint* into white polyfiller, before filling and sanding down, less work to do eliminating mistakes after, and, if you're filling holes in an already painted wall (patching damage) less top coating after as well.

*with your perfered colour emulsion
