les baty:
yo bum cheese, have you checked the calibration of the plunger and governor spring???? if the grub screw has siezed in, then the regulator valve will fail to close properly...... but dont quote me on it, hope this helps, but i dout it

muddyjames:
mine only holds on the last click but it used to be better but after each time i go off roading it gets worse. Have you been off road recently?

marmite monster:
yep! it got worse and worse after every time i went off roading it did hold on the last click but now it dont! :(
the haynes manual says
"from under the car rotate the adjuster anti clockwise on the rear of the handbrake assembly untill both shoes are full expanded against the drum"
then i take it you slacken it off a bit and job done?

muddyjames:
here's hoping it is!

clbarclay:
Apart from being hidden under the middle of a vehicle, the land rover drum brake is one of the best drum brakes I've ever come across for work on. If it hasn't recived any atention in a long while, combined with plenty of mud, then its probably a good time to get aquanted with it and give it some TLC.

The first time may take a while to service one, but once you know what you looking at its pretty straight forward, unlike some drum brakes which even with experiance are expletives to work on.
