200 to 300 diff
« on: October 20, 2008, 15:48:24 »
I'm planning to put a 300 series 24 spline diff and half shafts in my 200 axle case (currently has a broken diff & 2 good 12 spline half shafts). I've checked thing out and it seems to be a straight swap. I don't want to  use a 300 prop shaft with the rubber donut so I was wondering if I could swap the 300 output thingy (the plate with the 4 bolts that connects to the prop shaft) with the 200 thingy thus allowing me to use a 200 prop with a 300 diff. Any ideas or comments from people in the know would be gratefully received.

To put a 200 prop on a 300 you use the 200 flange with a spacer which is available from Ashcrofts

Mine cost in July

539745----£4.00
Carriage---£2.00
VAT-------£1.05
______________
Total------£7.05
______________

Or you could just cut 13mm off the 300 flange to use as a spacer.

Thats odd, as when i fitted a 200 flange to my 300 rear diff, there was a spacer in the bag with the flange, but when i fitted the flange, i didn't need to fit the spacer...... however, mine is leaking, so maybe i did need it after-all...LOL.....

If you're changing the diff anyway, the easiest way to sort it is to fit a FRONT diff......
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!
