Hi folks,

Can't quite see how to get to the aerial on the wing top to swap the antenna for a rubber one,  (fell off in the woods at BKF last Saturday) .

Is it wing off jobbie,    or up through wheel arch please?       8-[

thanks

Budgie:
The one on mine has a nut on the outside which then lets the thing drop inside the wing.
Then you can push the cable through the inner wing from the engine bay.
You'll need to remove the wheelarch plastic liner, if you still have it in place, to recover the old aerial and put the new one in.  ;)

It maybe easier to take the wing off though, as it's not a big job, as it'll make it easier to put the new aerial on if it secures from the underside.

R2D2:
Cheers Budgie, yeah new rubber one does need bolting from bottom.

Wonder how many screws refuse to undo tomorrow.

I put a rubber one on mine (300tdi) and there is a section of the plastic wheel arch liner that you have to remove by pressing the centre pin out of a few plastic "rivets" similar to the ones that hold the sill trim.....I tapped the centre pins out with a nail but struggeld for ages to get the the "rivet" out  to release the section of liner before realising you can get at em from under the bonnet on the top of the inner wing......DOH!!, once the liner is shifted you can get at the aerial OK. To save taking the radio out to thread the aerial lead thru I got a male lead end and a double female joiner from Maplins, then chopped the old lead at the old aerial end and attached the male end then joined the new lead to the old with the double female joiner. Hope that makes sense!
Paul
