Timing Belts Genuine Vs Non Genuine

<< < (2/2)

Les Henson:
I always fit Dayco belts - as andyb says - they are OE
Never replace just the belt though - always replace the timing as a kit (tensioner/idler/belt)

Ridgeback:
All the other bits got changed about 5 thousand miles ago. It was not leaking then.

Do the other bits still need to be changed even though they have not done many miles?

Matt

Les Henson:
The engine oil won't have damaged the tensioner or idler - the bearings in them are sealed. Personally - for the cost of them I would replace them (it's only about £20), but that's just for peace of mind really. What make they are is an important factor as well. 5k miles isn't much though, and they may well be ok.
