Timing Belts Genuine Vs Non Genuine

(1/2) > >>

Ridgeback:
I am about to get all the parts in to do the Crank and Cam oil seals. The belt has only done 5000 miles but I will change this at the same time because its been getting covered in oil.
when it comes to oil seals I always use Genuine Landrover parts because they don't cost much more and seem to fit better then the Britpart ones.
I have just looked at the prices for the Timing belts and the Genuine version is over 3 times the cost of the Dayco belt.
Is it worth the extra money, is there any difference because as with lots of OEM parts they are made by someone else and get a new label saying Landrover?

Dayco are the OEM for the 200Tdi timing belt.

Gates are as good.

TDi90:
dayco are fine  ;)

muddydisco:
If you fit geniune parts you get a parts fitted warranty which is 12 months as long as it's been done right  :D

Ridgeback:
Problem is proving it was fitted correctly because Landrover will do everything to get out of paying for an old 200tdi to fixed if the belt snapped
