Has any body fitted one of these engines into a Range Rover?

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

Is this the small bus deisel engine? In which case a friend has one and I have driven it.

It's a bit old fashioned in that the throttle is really an on off switch but it has bags of torque and will just pull and pull.

If he'd sell it to me at reasonable cost I'd buy it in a trice!

He did the conbversion and it's very neat but I think it took some doing.

It's a 2.8td engine which originally was used in the Nissan Laurel car and its similar to the RD28 fitted to some Nissan Patrols.I have one which was fitted in a Range Rover and was going to put it in mine but i'm not happy with the clutch set up.

Not the one I have driven then. That was a light commercial engine and quite uncivilised while the one you describe sounds rather more refined.

 It was ok in my 1985 ex-mod 110. Used with a diesel landrover gearbox used - no problems - clutch control fine. Ran sweet as.... The previous owner Tim put it in on with it's own mounts and exhaust downpipes and left the old landrover mounts in 'just in case'.....then 'just in case' happened, many thousands of miles later when it finally cracked piston number one last week  Apparently that happens sometimes late in life.  I've just got a 2.5 landrover engine, as I couldn't find another Nissan, they're rare as rocking horse on the market...I would definately have another one - the extra 300cc is essential for that tractor overtaking! It was great off-road, steady and reliable on road. 65mph comfortable. And it was a lovely engine.  It will be up for sale next week once it is removed, as a whole or in bits. Best offer gets it. It needs the pistons out and sorting, and a head skim. Nice engine, if you can find one.
