Alternator wires?
marky:
Just went out to clean up the contacts on my alternator so that i can get the rev counter working and get rid of the battery light on the dash after playing in the mud at the weekend. On the very first turn of the ratchet and with hardly any effort, the stud has sheared off the contact with the yellow and brown wire on. Theres bearly 1mm of stud left from what i can feel (can't quite see it). What does this wire do and how would you lot go about fixing it?
marky:
Well, the battery warning light doesn't come on any more!

If you take the back off the alternator caould you replace the sheared stud with a bolt ?
Just make sure what ever you do its insulated from the alternators frame.

I did exactly the same and glued the end of the stud back on with liquid metal, been ok for over a year!
