stratie:
You the man, cheers dude :D
bobtailed disco:
i had a similar prob on my series 2a
When rebuilding my series i put a new harness in and all was OK until i up graded the headlights and then.....
The indicator relay was humming
1 dim headlight,
side lights flashed when you put the indicators on,
and even more weird the horn would hum when you pressed the brake pedal
and all that was down bad earth on the headlights.
(the hole harness was earthed through the headlight which was fine until i up graded the headlight bulbs and burnt the earth wires through)

Rich_P:
According to my Lightweight manual, that switch is for the infra red headlights.
stratie:
Yep, all my LWT's have had that infra red light switch, but some clever b*gger wired up the spot lights to it.
S188:
A dim headlight on one side will be poor earth on that side if its dim on main and dip.
Belive it or not if you don't conect the earth to one headlamp bulb it'll still work at much reduiced rate as it'll find the earth in the other headlamp unit via the other beam. Thus dip beam becomes dip+main+main wired in series. You'll notice the earthed bulb apears to work perfectly and the other is really dim but you can't really tell both of the other beam are glowing too - look in the cab and you might even see the main warning lamp slightly on.
