Running without front prop
carls200tdi:
hi guys i've got a 1991 rangie diesel but the uj has gone on the front prop i cant get a new one locally (without paying 40-50 quid) so i have odered two from paddocks but wont get them until tuesday or wednesday
Anyway i need the rangie to get to work which is 10 miles away so will i do any damage if i remove the front prop until i get the new uj it will be fiited the day it arrives and the prop put straight back on so i will only do about 60 mile in total without prop thanks
crazymac:
It will do no harm whatsoever. I did this and did over 100 miles with no problems. (you will of course need to engage difflock!)
carls200tdi:
forgot to say it's got a borg and warner transfer box (viscous coupling)
Range Rover Blues:
Take it easy and all will be ok. The car will handle oddly in 2WD though. It is possible to damage the viscous unit in 2wd, but not so quickly and not if you don't drive like a loon.
carls200tdi:
Cheers guys will take prop off tomorrow
