kizz81:
did your leak get worse after you changed the seal, thats what is confuesing me
cheers kieran

MuddyMachine:
Yes, cost me a fortune in seals, once I changed all the seals i had no more problems.

You need to take off the sump and the bottom ladder to get to the seal

kizz81:
ill try replacing the seal, ive had a interesting convosation with dom the owner of apricot motors in bristol and he mentioned that there should be a white plastic ring in the centre of the seal ( which we thought was packaging ) it would apear that, that is there to align the seal properly we used a screw driver ( gentley ) to fit the seal round the apropriate parts,

a mistake on our part now seeming very possible, we will drop the gearbox and re do it using this plastic thingy as advised and see what diffferance it makes

thats a slight relief to know but still a unfortunate mistake
ill keep you posted

cheers kieran

My ole man use to work for Turner engineering, and this is one job he has always insisted I got done on a proper press as he reakons they are just too hit and miss putting it in any other way. I would suggest you take the seal and the housing to a freindly garage a pay a litt,e beer money to get it done properly.
