kizz81:
hello,
im out of ideas, we replaced the crank seal last wednesday and i got the bulkhead and everything back together by last night.
took it for a test drive
then went to post office to collect brothers missed post

got home ( a grand total of 8 miles ) and the engine oil is now leaking out quicker than it was, daft question but is this normal?

i wouldnt normally be in a slight panic but in 13 days time i set of heading for the landy rally  :'(

any help / advice will be rewarded in beer

cheers kieran

V8MoneyPit:
Obvious question maybe, but you did put the seal in the right way round?

Or could the oil be from the front of the gearbox rather than the rear of the crank?

kizz81:
the seal went in the same way as the old one came out

its defo engine oil as its dark black ( needs changing )
and the engine oild level is dropping

lightweight-love:
did you take off the flywheel housing? iv heard of people taking off flywheel housing then doing the rear seal and nipping it when putting the housing back on.

MuddyMachine:
I had the same problem last year, Changed the seal 3 times to no avail. Turned out to be the 2 L shaped cork seals from the bracket that hold the crank in.
Replaced them and not had a problem since
