'American Grafitti'
Bush Tucker Man:
I managed to buy the DVD on Sunday during a visit to the White Rose Shopping Centre (south Leeds) I'd been after it for ages, but never seen it on sale anywhere.
yes, I know I could have ordered it from Amazon, HMV, or wherever.
I've had it on VHS for a while, but it was getting a bit worn.
Even after all this time, it's still in my personal 'Top 10' films.
Fresh young actors, great cars, super soundtrack & a slight touch of comedy
Harrison Ford (yes, Indiana Jones!) had all but given up applying for film roles when George Lucas asked him to audition for a film he was casting & on the verge of commencing
Ford, who had returned to Carpentry was working in Lucas's house, & building a kitchen, when the request came to try for a part.

The Studio wanted a 'big-name' to be involved in the project before they'd agree to funding it
Lucas asked Frances Ford Coppola to produce, as he'd just finished working on a little film called 'The Godfather'
The Studio was happy & the film was given the go-ahead

It also gave a few other famous names early in their careers.................
Richard Dreyfuss (before he hunted a big Shark, or went off with Aliens)
Ron Howard ('Happy Days', & director of such marvels as 'The Grinch')
Charles Martin Smith ('The Untouchables', 'The Buddy Holly Story' & 'Deep Impact')
Bo Hopkins ('The Wild Bunch')
Plus..... who can forget the 'Wolfman Jack'?

I have not watched it for years. Remember liking it a lot, maqy have seen it as part of the "moviedrome" series of films that Alex Cox did on BBC2. Shame that BBC has given up on films, need FX or TCM for anything similar these days.
I recently got "Two lane Black top" on DVD of ebay, it was a copy (grump) so I should have grassed them up. Good film also part of Moiviedrome I believe.

Seen it a few times, but still not sure whether it's got a story or not?
James Taylor* as 'the driver', & Dennis Wilson** as 'the mechanic'
The primered '55 was the same one that was used in 'Graffiti' (454ci powered)
*The Singer-Songwriter, as in 'Fire & Rain'/'Sweet Baby Jane'
**One of the later BeachBoys

Hmmm, i might buy it. only seen it on TV.
There was a milners coupe rep last time we went to york drags, didnt see it run on the quarter. im quite glad actually because our coupe was in bad shape lol.
Ran the quarter and the secondary chokes stuck open, i had to knock it into neutral to slow it down while it revved its knackers off.
Then the ignition system started breaking down and I had no chance of getting a decent time lol.
