chassis measurements
« on: August 07, 2008, 12:43:48 »
i've had a small problem with the chassis on my series3, usual problem, rust has got to it
both front chassis legs ripped off the chassis while i was driving through nottingham last week

after cutting back the rust, the chassis is still good behind the front crossmember, so i am going to fit 2 new chassis legs
the only problem is, i need to be able to get the front leaf mount in the right position
last time i changed one of these i had the other side to measure against, but both have ripped right off and are twisted beyond use

can someone please measure the distance between the centres of the two mounting points on the chassis for the leafsprings, and also the distance from the top front hole on the bulkhead mounting bracket/steering box mount

any other ideas on how i can line this up would be very very welcome :)

thanks
Ian

Don't the Haynes manuals have a diagram with the measurements ?

Not bad going, ripping the legs off and all.
