kumho KL71 mud terrains, anyone used them
The Smiths:
Seems that I may be the odd one out then.
3 of us went out.
I'd got Insa Turbo Sahara, another had BFG and someone else had Kumho KL71.
Insa and BFG performed extremely well - the KL71 really struggled on rocks and was just OK in mud.
You cannot even blame the driver - he was the most experienced (and slightly better car). The bloke with the BFG's had only been offroading twice and did better.
He used the KL71's this once and then sold them - I would not touch them after seeing this (though they really do look good)
lambert:
My man the game keeper has kl71's on the front of his new def and Bfg mt's on the back. You can tell the difference. It wag's it's tail like an excited puppy, unless it's in ruts then it seems to crab as the back doesn't climb out half so well as the front.

None of which surprises me - the front wheels turn out of the ruts, the rears don't, so they will drag. Also, try matching the grip front to rear for a more even mannered drive. Has he driven the Defender with all four tyres the same, or does he just want an exciting life? :?
lambert:
It started out on all Bfg. Whilst the rear was calmer the front was also more wayward, so come the first split sidewall the fronts were swapped as a pair. In due course the rear will be swapped too, tho that is down to a lack of supply at the mo.
marjan:
Pretty good tyres but if you want something nearly as good and a lot cheaper try Toyo Tranpaths. I have them on my Shogun and they are superb on & off road.
These are mine.
