You might well find a V8 Disco with a good engine on ebay if you have a nose around - there seem to be a fair number of people breaking them for spares now. You could get any other parts you need too that way.

I think the MPI had oddball gearing? Not sure but have a suspicion it was lower geared than the TDI or V8?

V8 Disco's are ten a penny i'd bin it and buy another Disco.....

Yeah the gearbox is a high reving with long time before needing to change  i would buy a new one but the missus likes the shell of this one typical woman  :dance:

I've often wondered if MPIs would tend to be tidier than other Discos of the same age - if you think about it they wouldn't have been bought for heavy towing or off road use.

It sounds as though you'll need to swap the gearbox or diffs, depending on which part it is that has the altered gearing. Your fuel economy with the V8 would be terrible otherwise!

well i decided to get a v8 engine and gearbox i prefer the carbs but efi ok, or find a cheap donor vehicle that not road worthy and pinch the v8 out of it  :dance:
