Help Please

Rangie 3.5 Carb'd V8 Auto

My alternator doesnt seem to be working Properly, when i drive the batterys and cables get hot, Very hot,

is it over charging the batterys???  or is it the batterys are cooked???

and what is the biggest output alternator i can put on ??

and also i think my Radiator cores are blocked causing here to overheat

is a 3.5 Efi or 3.9Efi rad bigger and will they fit to a 3.5 carb

I run a 100a alt (off a 300tdi i think) as it only produces power when under load. 2 batteries and no problems. maybe yours thinks it is under load all the time?

The 3.5 efi rad is more efficient as when I put a carb model one on mine it ran hotter  :( I think it is a bit thicker but both will fit in the efi

You may lose the plastic cowling but it works the other way round.  I am still running a carb model rad on my efi.
I have also changed the header tank and bottom hose to a later model one to improve flow.
