Parking Ticket:Updated
« on: June 06, 2008, 12:06:04 »
Got a parking ticket this morning at 12 mins past 8 parking runs out at 8, very annoyed.
The thing is the traffic warden was very ignorant and has put the make of my defender as Jeep!
as this is incorrect does it void the ticket as the registration on my defender is not on a Jeep!?
with the cost of diesel at the moment I really cant afford the £35 :( thats at least 10 litres of diesel at these prices!!!!!!

Might be worth challenging at the very least, as it's been incorrectly filled in by the issuing Warden

dont they take pictures of the offence for proof? if that includes your plate and a pretty good resemblance to your vehicle irrespective of whether its a jeep or LR then they have a good case

fact that most if not all lr have the word landrover on the bonnet (or rr in the case of the RR) does make the warden out to be either blind or ignorant)

I would challenge it! you drive a landie not a Jeep...

My mate got one and they put the plate down wrong, he got away with it.
If want to walk it walk it, if you want to ride it ride it just leave me alone to drive it!

All the details have to be filled in correctly otherwise it is invalid - it is a legal document after all. So i would challenge it.

The problem now is that traffic wardens are now under the control of local government, not Police authorities. Is it a money making scheme?

Challenge it! Tell them you do not own nor where you in the possesion of a jeep defender (Or whatever they put on the ticket)

I did this as the number plate was wrong on my ticket, It was a very big smug grin I had when the letter came through letting me off

I got a ticket in Derby, I challenged it, they sent a picture through to me, I said that the reg on the ticket was different to mine because there was a bolt on the reg that made a 6 look like a 5....I got off with it!!

even if they dont let you off, just tell them to get a proper job and then pay it. there must be other jobs out there for people, why do a job that automatically makes you a PITA?

Well, to be fair, it's only a PITA if you park illegally, just like speeding fines are only a PITA if you speed.  Personally I'd cheerfully watch a traffic warden sit there all day ticketing the people who consistently park on double yellow lines down the road from us, making an already difficult bend downright dangerous, just so they don't have to walk 100 yards from their house to their car.  Why they think the rules don't apply to them is beyond me.

But back to the point...  you've got nothing to lose by challenging it now.

I agree if the vehicle is parked dangerously, then people deserve a ticket!!but I was parked in a bay outside my own house and was simply over the stupid 2 hour limit on my own street.
I've challenged it on the grounds that the DVLA database states my registration is not a jeep as stated on the PCN but is recorded as a land rover defender. will post once I know the outcome!even an apology to my defender for the insult is better than nothing! ;)

I would have stated that you dont own a Jeep and that the ticket had been sent out to the wrong person, thats how I had mine revoked!
