Volvo V70 (1999) Air Flow Meter - Changed but still chugging.
auf_wiedersehen_pet:
My mechanic said that the Volvo was chugging/hunting/stalling because the air flow meter had packed in.
Bought a new one from ebay. Put it on tonight and it makes no difference. Still chugging/hunting/stalling.
What's the next stage?
McGuire:
Could be the throttle position sensor not registering correctly, or the coolant temp. sensor not working, making the ECU think the engine's cold (and, in carb terms, running on full choke).
The only real way to sort this is a stint on the ECU reader to find out exactly what's wrong.
Meantime, check all connections to the MAP for leaks etc.

It's a Volvo V70 SE - 2.4 Turbo. Lovely to drive. 135mph. 195bhp. 35mpg.

Hi mate sorry it took so long to get back to you some reason i was not notified of your reply :? Great cars the v70 T5 we don't have many left at work now we have moved on to the S60 T5 with 250bhp :-# We have had a few cars with similar faults to yours and its turned out be the throttle body dirty around the butterfly. It's not a bad job just a bit tricky it's a black unit that sits under  the inlet manifold by 4 small bolts if i remember correctly :-k remove these and disconnect the plug and give it a good clean with carb spray and get it all shiny again :D it's got to worth a go.......Mike
