Suspension Turret Retaining ring

i am in the middle of getting all the kit for my suspension lift

i have Shocks, Springs, Lowering Turrets for front, Lowering Plates for rear, spring retaining bracket front and rear, and longer bump stops

i need Turret retaining rings, Brake Hoses, Poly Bush Kit <a couple of bushes are wearing out, that were noticed on the MOT and a Shock Bush fell of the other day :oops:>

is there any thing i have missed????

I have been looking at these on paddocks
and they give me an option of 2

which is the best to go for, it has heavy off road use and is used on road aswell

For brake hoses the Goodridge ones paddocks sell (or certainly sold when I got mine) are good quality, seem to be very reasonably priced and come in up to +4" length. If you need longer hoses then Llama4x4 will custom make any length up to 1m for a very reasonable fixed price, as it was I already had the Goodridge before I delt with david from Llama.

Polyurethane bushes :roll: don't get me started on delfex, best summed up as "gorssely over priced for what you get". Polybush are much better, though all in all I'm now back to genuine part rubber bushes for the 'Off roader'

Those HD ones are quite good in that they use M8 (course) threads which seem to be more robust than the standard items which use IIRC a 3/8" UNF (fine) thread. I've known the threads on new pattern part rings to sieze when the nut was on only a few turns and sheared.

What you can't see is the underside of the HD turret rings. Unless they have change the design then the underside which the spring sits against is not flat due to the heads of the bolts poking through, resulting on the spring seating agains 4 raised points. So far this has not caused any problems on mine, but its not as good a design as some other HD turret rings which use bolts with coundersunk heads so they sit flush.

The +2 inch hoses will be fine, stand size for lifts

so the fact i have lowering mounts aswell giving extra articulation wont cause them to go to tight??

No they will be fine. I have Raised turrets with +4 shocks, still on +2 hoses

get some from Llama 4x4, any length you want for a fixed price, £13 last time I got some.... sorted :)

Very good quality, and very helpful guy as well :)

if it is for a set of 5 i will go there if not i will get a set from paddocks as im not paying £65 for them when i can get them for £42.50 + VAT

That sounds like in the order of a 2.5" greater drop in height when you take into accout the differance in turrets and the part numbers Paddocks list for +2" procomps are more like +2.5" extended length. By which logic just beacues +2 hoses are fine on Baz's 90 doesn't mean they will be ok on your RRC Ben.

One point to bear in mind is especially with certain bushes in the radius arms you front suspension won't necesserily flex to the limit of the dampers travel. Considering they cost the same them its probably worth getting +4" to be on the safe side if your going to use extended dampers with lowered turrets. From experiance +4" hoses will sit quite happily with just a 1.5" lift if you possition them right when you put them on*.

*that goes for fitting any brake hose. A friends braided brake pipes failed during an emergancy stop beacuse the tyre kept rubbing on them when on full lock and wore through one of them.

i did think that i should be putting +4 hoses on, i have not ordered them yet, i will make some retaining brackets just to be on the safe sides

When fitting a +2 lift to my RRC kit with +2 pro comp shocks the standard length goodridge hoses I had fitted were on the point of snapping on articulation, that's with out -2 turrets. 

Had to get +3 hoses, courtesy of Regency Hydraulics, MK.  On the front pairs, to stop them flapping about in the breeze and to stop the rubbing, I wound on a section of the plastic coiled protectors, taken from the original rubber hoses, around each pair of braided hoses. 

You need to be carefull when positioning/routing the braided hoses so as they don't contact the tyres when under full lock etc.
