safari snorkle on a disco 3.9 v8
davidlandy:
the pipe extension was what I ws thinking but theres not a lot of room left under the wing to attach a 90deg bend to - thats after cutting the tube back on the snorkle casing too.
Chris Putt:
HI dave.
Not having seen one, but on 200 series discos theres a 90 degree bend that is very slim that goes from the airbox to the turbo. Could you sneak one of these in if space is an issue?
Chris
Thrasher:
Dave - I'll take some pics of Piglets - he's got a V8 one, but it has moved forward due to the cage. I hope it will help? I've got ABS ..... or is the 300Tdi one too short (just like the non-ABS V8 one?)
The airbox can be moved by cutting the pipe (you have to anyway for the normal V8 one) - so think out of the box ;-) All you need is a new airbox locator :)
Disco Matt:
I think the problem is that the hole on the snorkel lines up with the ABS gubbins at the moment, so it can't come straight in.
One idea, although I'm not sure I'd risk it with my skills: Seal off the original hole in the snorkel body and cut a new one in a more useful place. All joints will have to be fully watertight which would make this approach tricky and potentially risky, but if you can do it then it should work.
The airbox on mine moved up and back slightly with an extension bracket on the front and a couple of new holes in the inner wing at the back.
davidlandy:
thanks for the offer Thrash that will help.
at the moment the snorkle outlet is smack bang in line with the ABS module and the pipe work where the airflow meter is. theres seeinlgy no way that the moulded safari part will fit without some hefty reworking.
good points Matt & Chris , funnily enough looking at it last night the idea of the 200tdi air filter inlet was mentioned as this could be fitted to the snorkle outlet which would have to be cut down dramatically...looks like theres room then to run a pipe down the wing then route it in where the jack is then straight into the air filter box.
some pics from you guys would be great for inspiration!
