Axle Torque setting
« on: May 19, 2008, 18:24:58 »
Hi All

Just done the axle nose seal (1 less drip on the drive) can't remember the torque settings for the nut, 85 sticks in my head but can't be sure ? Its a rover type on the rear.
Thanks

Hi Ady,

The self locking nuts on the casing should be torqued to 40Nm (30lb/ft), the bolts on the flanges that attach the propshaft to the diff is 48Nm (35 lb/ft).

Final drive member bolts should be 65Nm (48lb/ft)

thanks Lourens but i am not sure we are talking about the same nut, its the 1 that you find on the diff after you take the prop off, 27mm (ish) castle nut with split pin, or is this the drive member ?

Thanks
Ady

It's the diff pinion flange & it's torqued to 85 lb f ft or 11.7 kg f m.
