Power steering probs
« on: May 12, 2008, 22:49:41 »
Hi guys, I've been having a few probs with the steering on my new range rover. Its a G-reg 3.9 manual. When I got it, it had been sitting for about a year, the power steering works, but on and off. If you are at rest and you turn from lock to lock, you get a pulsing from the steering wheel where it is assisted and then non assisted if you can understand what I mean. Does anyone have any ideas to what it could be? It doesn't leak anywhere by the way and there is enough fluid.

Cheers,
Tom

Sounds like a sticky UJ on the input shaft. Give them a good soak in WD 40 and see if the feel improves.

If you can't get there in a Land Rover you can't get there

Check the steering shaft U/J's and give them a good coating of freeing oil...
