gearbox probs

(1/2) > >>

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
When changing up and down gear, there is sometimes a crucnh as the gears engage, almost as if something is not lining up. My initial thought was the balance plate on top may have fracture but this is intact.
The gearbox is only 2+ years old.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

90Mike:
Hi mate in what gears do you have the problem  :? in all of them ? or just the usual 2nd and 3rd......Mike

Lord Shagg-Pyle:
the crunch occurs from 1 to 2, 3 to 2, 4 to 5. Not the usual sequence. I've had the gearstick mechanism apart to day expecting the plate at the top to be broken, but no!. Nothing seemed out of place.
I did notice the bias spring to the left of the stick is noticeable weaker than the right. Is that normal?

bilge rat:
you can adjust the plate , when i welded mine i put it in 4th then lined it up . might be worth a go...alan...

chris9119:
The bias springs play no part in the gear changing process, they just centre the gearstick the gear stick.

Sounds like a syncrow problem to me.

One assumes its an LT77/S box, and one also assumes that your using ATF oil in it?
